Alli Walker

Canadian singer/songwriter Alli Walker plays a blend of contemporary country and pop. Debuting in 2019 with the release of The Basement Sessions: What I've Learned, Walker turned to social media for the track list of her sophomore album, 2023's Growing Up, letting fans pick the songs that would appear. Born and raised in the small Canadian province Prince Edward Island, Walker's childhood saw her making use of her talents in everything from ballet and drumming to softball and bagpipe. After scoring the lead role in a school production, music became Walker's passion, and she went on to study as a vocal major in classical music. Alongside her vocal studies, she picked up guitar and bass, as well as some acting skills. Inspired by the likes of Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, Brad Paisley, and Gretchen Wilson, Walker had developed a love of country music and at 19 moved to Toronto with her guitar to pursue a music career. Playing numerous gigs and honing her songwriting skills, it took Walker some ten years of determination to self-record and release her debut album, 2019's The Basement Sessions: What I've Learned. With the album reflecting on her struggles to be recognized, it quickly found a fan base. In early 2020 she was due to start writing and recording her sophomore album in Nashville, but her plans were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and she instead opted to stay in Ontario and write new material. Taking to social media for the first time, she started to demo songs she had written and let fans pick and choose what would be recorded for the album. Working remotely with producer Danick Dupelle, Walker recorded the material in her own studio, with Dupelle adding the final touches. At the beginning of 2023 Growing Up was issued. Toward the end of 2023, Walker began playing bagpipe again -- which as a child had taken her to numerous competitions -- and she wrote the song "The Whiskey's Gone." The country/sea shanty went viral, amassing numerous social media views and shares, and Walker moved to Nashville to focus on writing and recording her third album.
