Bossa Nova ist Diana Krall nicht fremd, aber das Album aus dem Jahre 2009 Quiet Nights ist ihre erste Aufnahme, die dem sanft schwingenden Rhythmus gewidmet ist. In dem Zusammenschluss mit dem Arrangeur Claus Ogerman, der auch häufig mit dem Paten des Bossa Nova Antonio Carlos Jobim zusammengearbeitet hat, zieht Krall mit einem weichen, gemütlichen Jazz Album herauf, das an die entspannte Kultiviertheit für späte Stunden des Duetalbums von Jobim mit Frank Sinatra erinnert, das ebenfalls von Ogerman arrangiert und umgesetzt wurde. Es mag hier etwas zu viel klassischer guter Geschmack vorhanden sein -- es findet keine Neuinterpretation statt, nur Hommage -- dies ist jedoch kein Problem, denn Krall verfügt über ausreichendes Können, um auf der hauchdünnen Oberfläche dahin zu gleiten. Schließlich bedürfen manche Dinge keiner Verbesserung, sondern lediglich der Reproduktion.
