Der rote Faden, der sich durch das gesamte Musikprogramm zieht und es auch inspiriert hat, sind 15 Fugen aus den 95 Werken, die Pachelbel für die acht Kirchentonarten als Präludien zu den Vertonungen des in der Vesper in St. Sebaldus gesungenen Marienliedes Magnificat geschrieben hat. Wie der Gelehrte Ewald V. Nolte bemerkt, zeigen diese Fugen - von denen die meisten hier von der Dirigentin Amanda Keesmaat für verschiedene Kombinationen von Celli, Erzlaute und Orgel transkribiert und arrangiert wurden - Pachelbel als einen scharfsinnigen, pragmatischen und dennoch sensiblen Kontrapunktiker. © Analekta
