Mat Kearney's fifth studio album, 2015's Just Kids, finds the singer/songwriter reinvestigating his love of hip-hop, while at the same time holding on to his earnest acoustic and electronic-tinged pop sound. Recorded at his home studio in Nashville with longtime collaborator Josh Crosby as well as producer/songwriter Mason "MdL" Levy (Justin Bieber, Maroon 5), Just Kids is one of Kearney's most personal albums to date, and finds him ruminating on his youth growing up in Oregon. Cuts like the laid-back title track and the lush, dramatic "Heartbreak Dreamer" showcase Kearney's poetic, rap-infused style over infectious midtempo grooves. Included on Just Kids are the singles "Heartbeat," "One Heart," and "Billion." Also featured is the poignant and romantic duet "The Conversation," featuring vocalist Young Summer.
