Tapia Eta Leturia
The tikitixa music of the Basque region of Spain has been introduced to folk festival audiences around the globe by diatonic accordion player and vocalist Josepa Tapia, tambourine player Xavier Leturia, and their band, the Tapia et Leturia Band. Initially meeting as members of a rock band, Tapia and Leturia worked as a duo before expanding their group with additional musicians and dancers. Their debut album, Quebec, released in 1999, featured instrumental support by violinist Arkaitz Miner, bassist Ritxi Salaberria, and guitarist Pascal Gaigne. As of 2001, the Tapia et Leturia Band featured acoustic guitarist Mixel Ducau and dancers Josema Mendiola, Miren Genua, and Patxi Perez. Tapia collaborated with Kaldo Izagirre to record an album, Apoaren Edertasuna, in 1998.
