Conocida por las tendencias altruistas y compasivas de su alt-pop, AURORA compuso buena parte de su cuarto álbum inspirada por una carta de activistas indígenas sobre el cambio climático. El disco resultante, What Happened to the Heart?, aborda tópicos como la motivación personal, el amor, la filosofía y al frustración a lo largo de una extensa lista de 16 temas. Quizás el trabajo más pulido y bailable de la cantante noruega hasta la fecha, a menudo su sonido parece ser diametralmente opuesto a su contenido, pero esa es solo una impresión superficial; en realidad, ambos se complementan para imprimir con más fuerza sobre el oyente su urgente mensaje de la necesidad de un cambio.
