If a copy of Smooth Sax Tribute to John Legend were to land on the doorstep of John Legend, the singer/songwriter/pianist might put it on for a few minutes, chuckle, and then toss it in his trash can. Or maybe he'd give it to someone for Christmas. These interpretations of tracks from Legend's Get Lifted are fairly faithful to the arrangements, and the sax playing is decent, but there's a lot of cheap programming involved -- from the handclaps to the chintzy bass drums. This is a mere curiosity if you're a major fan of the album, but it doesn't warrant a second listen. Besides, the original's readily available.
