La qualité plutôt que la quantité. Rengaine bien connue qui semble chère à Calogero qui publie son (seulement, est-on tenté de dire) septième album en 18 ans de carrière. Un disque soulignant un peu plus les contours de l’art de celui qui a toujours dit « avoir le cul entre deux chaises ». Entre la chanson française et le rock, donc. Une façon de montrer qu’on peut évidemment aimer à la fois Barbara et William Sheller et les Beatles et les Cure… Entouré de ses complices Marie Bastide, Paul École aux textes et de son frère Gioacchino à la composition, Calogero signe avec Liberté chérie un disque simple (pas simpliste) et efficace. De la chanson populaire aux refrains assez implacables qui appuie aussi bien sur les leviers de la nostalgie (Ma maison et Fondamental) que de l’introspectif, voire de l’engagement ( Le Vélo d'hiver sur la rafle du Vél’ d’Hiv’). Amoureux ou révolté, confident ou tribun, il surfe avec le savoir-faire qu’on lui connait sur tout ce qui a fait la réussite de ses albums passés. Et qu’il gonfle le torse (les nerveux On se sait par cœur) ou qu’il murmure au creux de l’oreille (Fondamental), Calogero maîtrise vraiment bien son affaire. Assez en tout cas pour émouvoir à nouveau ses nombreux aficionados… © CM/Qobuz
