The 502s

US folk troubadours The 502s were conceived in 2015 in Maitland, Florida by Ed Isola, who soon brought his cousins Jonathan Ruiz (guitar and vocals) and Jacob Isola (bass) into the fold. Following a career-starting performance at the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival, the group released their debut self-titled EP in 2016; a barnstorming blend of Americana, bluegrass, and acoustic folk. In 2017, Isola family friend Matthew Tonner was invited to produce the band's debut album Because We Had To (2018), later also joining The 502s on piano and electric guitar. Trumpeter Kaleigh LeBeau was also welcomed as a new member. Armed with a new live lineup – featuring Joe Capati on horns, Sean Froehlich on drums, and Nick Melashenko on bass – The 502s took the album on tour in the US and across Europe in 2018 and 2019. Their second album, Could It Get Better Than This, arrived in October 2021, having been preceded by an online experience called Camp Feels Good, which allowed their fans to listen to the LP and access exclusive behind-the-scenes content during the COVID-19 pandemic.
