Marina Kaye
Marina Marie Madeleine Dalmas (born on February 9, 1998), also known as Marina Kaye, is a French singer-songwriter, who first rose to fame after winning the sixth season of TV talent show La France a un incroyable talent in 2011 at the age of 13. Raised in Paris’ 9th arrondissement, Dalmas started uploading cover versions to her video streaming channel when she was just 10 years old. In 2011, her participation in La France a un incroyable talent, the French version of the Got Talent series, came to a triumphant end after performing covers of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” and Katy Perry’s “Firework.” Upon her return to high school, Dalmas abruptly decided to quit music after being bullied by her peers, a decision that was eventually overturned by an encounter with Norwegian record label executive Jan Erik Frogg. In the following years, she opened for several established acts such as alternative rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars at the Palais des Festivals de Cannes and released her debut EP, Homeless, in 2014. The success of the title track, which climbed to the top of the French Singles Chart, paved the way for the advent of her studio debut, Fearless (2015). Recorded between Los Angeles, London, and New York, the LP peaked at Number 3 on SNEP’s Albums Chart and obtained triple-platinum certification after selling over 300,000 copies. Following a guest appearance on rapper Soprano’s Mon Everest in 2016, Dalmas jumped back into the spotlight with Explicit (2017), her sophomore effort which, despite the lukewarm reception of singles “On My Own” and “Something,” achieved gold certification in 2019. Preceded by its title track and the singles “The Whole 9,” “Double Life,” and the hypnotic “7 Billion,” third album Twisted (2020) found the singer going in a slightly darker direction and was hailed by critics as Dalmas’ most mature album.
