Dieter Birr

Dieter "Maschine" Birr (born March 18, 1944 in Köslin/Pomerania) is a singer, guitarist and composer from Germany. The artist enjoyed great success as a member of the German rock band Puhdys until 2016. From 1969, he played a key role in shaping the success of the GDR band as its frontman. The Puhdys' greatest hits include "Lebenszeit" (1976), "Alt wie ein Baum" (1977), "Wilde Jahre" (1978), "Doch die Gitter schweigen" (1979), "He John" (1981), "Der Außenseiter" (1982) and "Rockerrente" (1984). Dieter Birr also releases solo albums at the same time. His debut Intim was released in 1986, followed by the musician's second studio album Maschine in 2014. After the Puhdys disbanded in 2016, he released his solo album Neubeginner in the same year. The longplayer reached number 12 in Germany. After the compilation Rock Legenden Vol. 2 with Karat, City and Matthias Reim in 2017, Dieter Birr released another album, Alle Winter, a year later. In 2022, the musician released an album under his nickname Maschine for the first time. The longplayer Große Herzen climbs to number 4 in the German charts. Mein Weg followed two years later, reaching number 4 in Germany again.
