The El Dorados didn't enjoy sustained success or notoriety and really weren't a top-echelon doo wop group. They did make one superb song in 1955: "At My Front Door" is a landmark of the genre; it had every ingredient, from a simple, catchy theme to first-rate harmonizing and Pirkle Moses' finest lead. The El Dorados made many other good tunes, and an occasionally inspired one like "I'll Be Forever Loving You" or "A Fallen Tear," before quitting Vee-Jay in a money dispute and subsequently disbanding. Almost their entire output is available on this 25-song reissue. It's a chance for fans to revisit triumphs and newcomers to hear why they did have a brief time in the spotlight.
