Jupiter Coyote

Seamlessly combining elements of Southern rock, bluegrass, funk, and boogie, Jupiter Coyote has been at the fore of the American jam band scene for over three decades. Emerging in the early '90s and buoyed by a devoted fan base, the self-coined "mountain rock" group has remained road-tested and prolific, selling over a million records and releasing new material well into the 2020s. Jupiter Coyote was founded in Macon, Georgia by childhood friends Matthew Mayes (guitar, guijo, vocals) and John Felty (vocals, guitars), drummer Gene Bass, and bassist Sanders Brightwell. They spent the early '90s sharpening their funk and country-pop stylings on the road and in the studio, with well-received efforts like Cemeteries & Junkyards, Wade, Lucky Day, Still Jammin', Ghost Dance, and Sage with Toad helping to secure a loyal fan base. In 1999 the band added Steve Trismen (vocals, fiddle) to the roster, adding a whole new dynamic to their sound. By the late 2000s, the crew was operating as a seven-piece with the additions of lead guitarist John Meyer and second drummer Noel Felty, resulting in a slew of live and studio albums (Waxing Moon, The Hillary Step, Life Got in the Way), all of which, like their predecessors, were released independently. Still going strong, the band released a pair of concert LPs in 2020, followed by a steady stream of studio singles ("Hotbox the Car," "What If I Were a Star," "Pack Mule," "Pry," and "Seasons") in 2021.
