This single-disc release compiles two of the Bonzo Dog Band's late-'60s LPs, namely Tadpoles and Keynsham. The style has changed somewhat from the band's two previous albums (both compiled on Vol. 1 of this collection), but noticeably the high quality of humor and music remains. The absolutely hilarious "Shirt" skit is featured here, and is unquestionably one of the highlights from the Bonzos' career. "Mr. Apollo," the band's take on hard rock and muscle-building courses, also ranks alongside "Shirt" as one of the finest comedic tracks ever. Vol. 2 is full of imaginative music that can leave the listener roaring with laughter. Indeed, kazoo solos are commonplace, and even the "electric shirt-collar" is featured, if one is to believe Neil Innes. The latter half of this compilation, however, lets this disc down somewhat. Fortunately, the few forgettable tracks on Keynsham are far outnumbered by the side-splitting moments. Vol. 2: The Outro is a superb release that captures the comedy genre, and the band, perfectly. Those uninitiated in the comedy scene will invariably find Vol. 2 a superb compilation, offering a refreshing slice of music that's just full of surprises.
