Whore Paint

Whore Paint are a feminist noise rock/post-punk trio from Providence, Rhode Island consisting of vocalist Reba Mitchell (Made in Mexico, Assembly of Light Choir), drummer Meredith Stern (Teenage Waistband), and guitarist Hilary Jones (Arcing). Their sound combines shredding guitar riffs and monstrous, tumbling drums, along with Mitchell's showstopping vocals, which effortlessly switch from aggressive shrieking to otherworldly crooning with nary a moment's notice. Her lyrics are raw, graphic, and unflinching, focusing on physical abuse, political concerns, and social discontent. Whore Paint formed in early 2010, as Stern and Mitchell worked at Providence-based nonprofit arts organization AS220. They recorded their debut EP, Menarchy, in 2011, and Anchor Brain released it as a 7". After several shows around the New England area, they signed to Providence noise rock institution Load Records and released their debut LP, Swallow My Bones, in 2013. Whore Paint were named one of Alternative Press' 100 Bands You Need to Know in 2014, and they played shows with Lydia Lunch, Alice Bag, Downtown Boys, and many others. Translation Loss released the band's second LP, Ultra Sound, in November of 2015.
