Massimiliano Damerini

Massimiliano Damerini studied piano and composition in his hometown of Genoa. He immediately pursued a virtuoso career playing piano in several important European concert halls, including Gaveau Hall in Paris, the Hercules in Munich, London's Barbican Centre, and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. His wide-ranging repertoire included the early and late Romantic periods, with compositions by Chopin, Brahms, Franck, Fauré, and extended to contemporary music. He took part in the Venice Biennale, the Berlin Festwochen, the Paris Festival d'Automne, the Vienna Modern, and the Donaueschingen Festival. Many composers dedicated piano works to him in recognition of his technical abilities and interpretive sensitivity. In 1992, he received the Premio Abbiati, which is awarded by Italian critics. His later recorded efforts include some Schubert sonatas (1999), Hindemith sonatas (2002), and works by Sciarrino (2004). Massimiliano Damerini died on July 20, 2023 at the age of 72.
