Cinq mois seulement après son dernier effort en date, Oxnard (2018), l'auteur-compositeur-interprète, producteur et multi-instrumentiste R&B américain Anderson .Paak revient en 2019 avec le quatrième volet de sa série d'albums baptisés d'après les plages les plus iconiques de Californie. Bénéficiant notamment de la présence de Dr. Dre et Pharrell Williams derrière la console de mixage, l'album voit en outre défiler un éventail d'invités de haut vol, d'Andre 3000 ("Come Home") à Nate Dogg ("What Can We Do?") en passant par Jazzmine Sullivan ("Good Heels"). Porté par le single "Make It Better" avec le vétéran Smokey Robinson, Ventura décroche la quatrième place des classements américains.
