Huitième album studio des suédois de Sabaton, The Last Stand voit le jour en 2016, succédant à Heroes (2014) et à la captation live Heroes on Tour parue plus tôt dans l'année. Produit par Peter Tägtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Celtic Frost), l'album voit une nouvelle fois la formation metal symphonique se livrer à la retranscription de grandes batailles de l'histoire parmi lesquelles celle de Shiroyama (1877), celle de Bannockburn (1314) ou encore l'offensive Meuse-Argonne (1918).
