Mélodiste démentiel, musicien virtuose, chanteur acrobate, Stevie Wonder sait tout faire. Sélectionner ses chansons les plus essentielles n’est pas chose aisée. Publié en mars 1982, Stevie Wonder's Original Musiquarium I réussit pourtant à réunir seize tubes enregistrés entre 1972 et 1980. Et pour combler ses fans, quatre inédits viennent se glisser dans le tracklisting : Front Line, Ribbon In The Sky, That Girl et Do I Do dont le solo de trompette est interprété par le grand Dizzy Gillespie ! Ces mêmes fans auront aussi noté que les versions proposées de Living For The City et Boogie On Reggae Woman sont légèrement différentes de celles des albums studio. Pour le reste, tout n’est que magie funk, uppercuts soul et fiesta groovy. Le plus grand label de musique noire de tous les temps, Tamla Motown, fut créé dans l'hiver 1959 à Detroit (Michigan) par le grand Berry Gordy. Le nom « Motown » est la contraction de « Motor Town » (la ville du moteur), surnom donné à la ville de Détroit alors capitale de la production automobile. Avec l'argent qu'il avait gagné en écrivant et produisant des chansons, Berry Gordy avait auparavant créé sa première maison de disques - nommée Gordy, puis Tamla dont le premier tube sera Money (That's What I Want) de Barrett Strong.
