Certes Jet depuis Get Born a pris l'habitude de ne pas cacher ses influences, voire de recycler des titres venus du passé. Outre que leurs choix sont judicieux et leurs références impeccables, l'histoire du rock'n'roll n'est faîte que de recyclages.
Dans le cas de Jet et de Shine On ce qui sauve la donne, c'est le ton et la vraie énergie de l'ensemble. Jet possède ce qui fait les vrais bons groupes de rock, un guitariste incisif et inventif avec Cameron Muncey et un chanteur animée de la rage sacrée avec Nic Cester. Ce n'est certes pas suffisant mais c'est tellement nécessaire, Shine On est calibré pour déverser ses vibrations les amplis à fond.
« Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is » a le calibre pour mettre le feu aux stades dans une veine très acédéssienne, « Bring It On Back » et ses violons capture le meilleur de la britpop avec des accents qui donnent des envies d'Oasis. Oui, les références sont là, mais réussies et personnalisées, il n'est pas interdit de croire que dans quelques années de nouveaux groupes se verront taxés "d'imiter" Jet, dans une boucle jamais définitivement bouclée.
