Ode est sans doute la meilleure définition de l’expression « renaître de ses cendres ». Après une année 2020 très compliquée pour l’interprète de Déjeuner en paix (il a perdu ses parents lors de l’épidémie de Covid), il décide en 2021 de se relever avec une force inouïe. Pour l’inclassable Helvète, cela débute par la création d’un théâtre itinérant qu’il nomme Le Radeau des inutiles. Avec ses musiciens, dans un décor rappelant le célèbre tableau de Géricault, ils décident de jouer dans des lieux insolites, notamment des parcs et des châteaux : concert le soir et création de chansons le jour, dans le studio « portable » qu’ils installent dans les luxueuses pièces desdits châteaux.
Toute cette énergie, alliée à la beauté des lieux, a donné vie à cet album rempli de chansons d’un optimisme stupéfiant. A commencer par la reprise vibrante de la chanson Die Aussicht, signée des Allemands Nils Koppruch et Gisbert zu Knyphausen. Cette relecture est rythmée par des accords plaqués au piano, lesquels sont rejoints par des guitares et des violons qui font décoller la chanson vers un élan vital qui réchauffe le cœur (Le plus léger au monde). Même son de cloche avec Ne me dites pas non pt2 (avec un solo de trompette et une rythmique conquérants), ou encore Éclaircie (le refrain « Ouvrons la cage et envolons-nous » parle de lui-même). Mais l’album comprend également des morceaux qui sont un peu plus en demi-teinte – sans jamais sombrer dans la noirceur pour autant. C’est le cas de L’Orage et sa mélodie mélancolique (rehaussée par un accordéon incroyablement turbulent) ou bien Je te mentirais disant et sa couleur crépusculaire.
