Silmarils
A French metal act that snagged early comparisons to groups like Rage Against the Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silmarils built a following through their live shows, eventually winning over Scottish producer Peter Murray, who helped them with their first recorded work. Their debut full-length, Silmarils, was released in 1995 and the band added to the promotion of the record by having famous porn starlets feature in a video for the lead single from the album. Keeping a hectic touring schedule helped the band solidify its fan base, and Silmarils released their second album, Original Karma, in 1997. Vegas 76 appeared in May of 2000, mixed by Beastie Boys cohort Mario Caldato, and in 2003 Silmarils released album number four, 4Life.
