Ryan Stevenson
Ryan Stevenson is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who focuses on contemporary Christian music with an adult alternative style. He first gained recognition in 2015 with the LP Fresh Start, which featured the Dove Award-winning single "Eye of the Storm." His subsequent efforts, including No Matter What (2018), Wildest Dreams (2020), and ABLE (2023), have all charted on Billboard, further solidifying his success.
Born and raised in agricultural Bonanza, Oregon, he was brought up in the church with church music, and got his first guitar in his late teens. He played in an acoustic duo with CCM musician Paul Wright while attending Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon, and would contribute to Wright's early releases, including 2003's Fly Away.
After a move to Boise, Idaho, Stevenson released his first solo record, Running to You, with Christian label Off the Vine Records in 2007. Undiscovered followed in 2010 before the EP Yesterday, Today, Forever arrived a year later on BEC Recordings. He switched to Nayrian Records for 2012's Champion of the World EP and signed with Christian rapper TobyMac's Gotee Records for 2013's Hold Nothing Back. The title track of that album marked Stevenson's debut on the Billboard Christian songs chart. Gotee also released his third full-length album, Fresh Start, in 2015. It featured a duet with TobyMac that reflected an updated, poppier approach to production. The Top Ten Christian album also included "Eye of the Storm" (featuring Gabe Real), which hit number one in 2016. 2018 saw the release of No Matter What, which landed hits with the singles "The Gospel," "With Lifted Hands," and the inspiring title cut, which featured MercyMe's Bart Millard. A one-off holiday single, "Home for Christmas," arrived in 2019, ahead of the release of the full-length Wildest Dreams in 2020, which spawned the Top 20 hit "Amadeo (Still My God)." The hope-fueled ABLE arrived three years later, spearheaded by the rousing, gospel choir-backed "The Message." Stevenson started 2024 with the assured standalone singles "Just as You Are" and "Rich."
