Jean-Baptiste Guegan

The French rock singer Jean-Baptiste Guégan was born in Brittany in 1983 and at the age of nine had a life-changing experience when he saw Johnny Hallyday in concert in Paris. Throughout his teenage years he would try to emulate Hallyday, eventually becoming known as Johnny Junior. His obsession eventually led to him entering the 'La France' talent show performing two Hallyday songs 'Alumer le Feu' and 'Diego'. The renditions of his hero's songs were good enough for him to win the final of the talent show and launch his singing career.

Since the death of Hallyday in 2017 Guégan has experienced a rising demand for live appearances and in 2018 he was booked to perform 200 concert dates. Hallyday's death left a huge chasm in French music and Guégan is carving a niche in the space left by the singer's passing. Guégan's debut album released in 2019 contains five songs penned by lyricist Michel Mallory, one of Hallyday's songwriting collaborators.
