Great Ytene
Cerebral London quartet Great Ytene take their name from an archaic term referring to the New Forest region on the south coast of England. Formed from the ashes of Colours, a similarly minded project, Great Ytene made their debut in 2013 with a pair of independently released singles that drew inspiration from Krautrock, psych, and shoegaze. They were quickly signed to Bella Union, which issued the band's self-titled debut EP which, at a progressive 32 minutes, played more like a full-length. In 2015, after losing an entire album's worth of material to technical issues, Great Ytene recommitted themselves to writing and recording an entirely new album with longtime collaborator and producer Iggy B. Released in early 2017 by Faux Discx, Locus found the band further darkening their tone and experimenting with noisy post-punk elements.
