Ghostface

After leaving the legendary rap collective Wu Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah went on to have a hugely successful solo career, establishing himself amongst the great freestyle MCs. One of nine children, raised in the Stapleton Projects in Staten Island, New York, Killah (real name Dennis Coles) was a founding member of the Clan, and has gone on to establish himself as Executive Producer on all the group's releases. Combining a love of kung-fu movies, comic books and old funk and soul records, they pioneered hardcore rap and were key figures in rejuvenating the East Coast rap scene with Nas and Notorious B.I.G.. Killah's debut solo album Iron Man (1996) sampled blaxploitation films and obscure 1970s soul and became an instant hit, reaching Number 2 in the US Billboard chart and producing the UK hit single All That I Got Is You with Mary J. Blige. Albums Supreme Clientele (2000), The Pretty Toney Album (2004) and Fishscale (2006) all made the US Top 10 and he went on to work with various leading artists including Raekwon, Missy Elliott, Beyoncé, Mark Ronson and Mos Def. Fond of switching personas and styles, Killah also appears under the aliases Tony Stark, Ghostdini, Starky Love, Pretty Toney and The Wallabee Kingpin.
