Ghost Dawg

Texas rapper, singer, and producer Ghost Dawg fuses the deliberate attack of Southern hip-hop with trap, G-funk, and a sharp melodic sense culled from R&B and pop. After debuting with a self-titled 2019 EP, he expanded his sound with a pair of independent full-lengths, Damn Ghost and Ghost Vandross, which appeared in quick succession over the next two years. A native of Palestine, Texas, Ghost's musical upbringing ranged from Southern rap forebears like UGK to the varied sounds of Prince. When he began to develop the style heard on his eponymous EP, he also looked toward contemporary icons like Drake and Travis Scott. Ghost's sharp wordplay and eclectic production were further honed on 2020's Damn Ghost, his first full-length project. The smoother Ghost Vandross appeared a year later.
