蕭亞軒 Elva Hsiao

When the singer Elva Hsiao released her self-titled debut album in 1999 she became the first native Chinese singer to release an R&B album into the Chinese market and in doing so paved the way for a new wave of Chinese R&B performers.

Hsaiao was born in Taoyuan City, Taiwan in 1979 and like many of her fellow Asian-Pacific artists got her break in the music business by entering a talent competition, in her case it was the 'New Talent Singing Awards' run by TVB, a Hong Kong TV channel. At the time she was part of a girl band called Phenomenon but after her bandmates decided to quit the band she continued as a solo artist.

After signing a deal with Virgin/EMI she released her groundbreaking debut album and it sold 800,000 copies, firmly establishing Hsaio as a significant emerging talent. After releasing 13 more studio albums, Hsiao took a break from recording in 2014 which lasted until 2020 when she launched a comeback with album 'The Naked Truth'.
