Produced by Argentinian film composer Gustavo Santaolalla, Vengo Venenoso is the first release from singer/guitarist Antonio Carmona since leaving the hugely influential Latin pop outfit Ketama. Like his former band's output, Carmona's 2006 debut fuses contemporary flamenco with jazz, hip-hop, and salsa influences, and includes collaborations with rapper Mala Rodriguez ("Ay de Ti)", Colombian singer/songwriter Juanes ("A Tu Lado"), and Spanish balladeer Alejandro Sanz ("Parc Que Tu No Llores").
