Mit dem Stereoact-Remix ihres Liedes "Die immer lacht" wurde Hobbymusikerin Kerstin Ott 2016 plötzlich in die Charts katapultiert, ihr Debütalbum Herzbewohner kam auf Platz 4 der Charts und wurde mit Gold ausgezeichnet. Kein Wunder also, dass Ott auf dem im August 2018 veröffentlichten Nachfolger Mut zur Katastrophe an der Deep-House-Schlager-Mixtur des Vorgängers festhält, in der sonnige Beats auf einfache Melodien treffen. Manche Tracks blicken aber in andere Richtungen, zum Beispiel der Popsong "Lichter meiner Stadt" oder die Akustik-Nummer "Sieben Kartons". "Nur einmal noch" und "Regenbogenfarben" wurden als Singles ausgekoppelt. Das Album, das auf Platz 3 in die deutschen Charts einstieg, ist auch in einer Deluxe-Variante mit sieben Bonustracks erhältlich.
