Whitney Woerz

Making her debut in her mid-teens, singer/songwriter Whitney Woerz crafts a spontaneous brand of affirmative pop. While early recordings like 2015's Behind the Smile EP, with its dash of guitar twang, may have evoked early Taylor Swift, subsequent tracks favored sleeker production and more-skittish vocal performances, including 2020's "Weirdos." The New Yorker began recording her first effort in early 2015 at the age of 15. Produced by Glenn Rosenstein (U2, Madonna), the Behind the Smile EP arrived later that year and included the viral hit "6 Second Love" and "Ghost Story," about a friend living with depression. Woerz's dedication to the issue led to her position as teen ambassador for Bring Change 2 Mind, a charity dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health struggles. That same year, she also released Live from Muscle Shoals: The Fame Sessions, a covers collection of songs by the likes of X Ambassadors, Troye Sivan, Bon Iver, and more, recorded at Fame Studios. In 2017, Woerz issued the upbeat "Idea of Her," the first in a series of stand-alone tracks that included 2018's "Love Me Not" and the next year's "Little Bit More." The quirkier "Weirdos" and "Retrograde" followed in 2020.
