Restless Road

Restless Road are a Nashville band who received their first big break in 2013 when they appeared on the third season of the American version of The X Factor. Despite the support of X Factor judge Simon Cowell, they struggled to find an audience outside the show. They persevered, adding light hip-hop influences to their soft, melodic country-pop, a transition that brought them to the attention of pan-genre country singer Kane Brown, who signed them to his fledgling label. Their first EP for the label, a self-titled affair appearing in February 2020, showcased their evolution. Restless Road later charted a minor hit with 2023's "Last Rodeo," the title track from their debut album of the same name. Colton Lane Pack, Zachary Beeken, and Andrew Peter Scholz each auditioned as individual singers for the third season of The X Factor. Judge Simon Cowell decided to assemble the trio as a group named Restless Road, and they made it all the way through the semifinals. After their season wrapped up, Restless Road continued to build their audience, chiefly through internet performances that included covers of popular tunes. Pack left the group in February 2014, and he was swiftly replaced by Jared Keim. This new incarnation signed with WEG Music in 2014; also that year, they supported Demi Lovato on several concerts. Scholz left the group in 2015; he was replaced by Garrett Nichols, who'd previously appeared on season 13 of American Idol. Restless Road kept plugging away through the 2010s, playing to their fans both on and offline. Jared Keim left the group in 2018, leaving Beeken and Nichols as a duo until 2020, when original member Colton Pack returned to the fold. By that point, Restless Road had come onto the radar of Kane Brown, who was also a contestant on The X Factor back in 2013. The trio had recently covered his hit "Good as You" and, impressed, Brown offered the group a deal on his Sony-affiliated label. An eponymous EP produced by Dan Huff appeared in early 2020. It was highlighted by "Take Me Home," a collaboration with Brown that interpolated John Denver's classic hit "Take Me Home, Country Roads." 2022 saw the release of the sentimental single "Growing Old with You." Throughout 2023, Restless Road kept up a steady schedule of singles, landing a Billboard Country Airplay hit with "Last Rodeo." The song proved to be the title track of their debut album, which came out that November. A lengthy set of 18 tracks, Last Rodeo made it to number 42 on the Country Albums chart.
