Après le succès extraordinaire de l’intégrale des Sonates de Beethoven, Arcana réédite, avec une nouvelle présentation et un texte de présentation écrit par Paul Badura-Skoda lui-même, un coffret dédié à Schubert, défini par Diapason comme « le Schubert à amener sur une île déserte ». Un must-have !

Aussi loin que peut remonter sa mémoire, Paul Badura-Skoda a ressenti un lien très étroit avec la musique de Franz Schubert. Et à un moment où les connaissances musicologiques sur l’oeuvre de Schubert étaient encore rudimentaires, il a analysé les principales éditions originales et les manuscrits, afin de relever les erreurs qui s’étaient peu à peu installées, et de mettre en place des versions Urtext qui font aujourd’hui référence. Il a également complété certains mouvements laissés inachevés par Schubert, en prenant toutefois garde à ne pas introduire de compositions étrangères à l’oeuvre de Schubert. Le choix d’instruments d’époque peut encore surprendre les partisans des pianos modernes. Mais personne ne peut ignorer l’importance d’une démarche qui - en s’appuyant sur les couleurs et les possibilités sonores des instruments que Schubert connaissait, utilisait et pour lesquels il a écrit ces oeuvres - favorise une plus grande intimité avec cette musique. © Arcana
