Omri Hadari

Israeli conductor Omri Hadari began his career as a trumpeter, before graduating with an advanced conducting degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. He has gone on to an international career, particularly notable for his involvement with orchestras in Australia, South Africa, and Israel. His repertoire is broadly diverse, but he has a special affinity for late Romantic and 20th century composers. In addition to the symphonic literature, he has experience in opera and ballet. Hadari began conducting the Australian Broadcasting Corporation orchestras and the orchestras of Sydney and Melbourne in 1980. He has served as music director and principal conductor of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra; the Ashdod Chamber Orchestra, Israel; and "Classica" Chamber Orchestra Hadera, Israel, as well as principal guest conductor of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Portugal. Other orchestras with which he has appeared include the Royal Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. Hadari reconstructed Shostakovich's score for the silent film New Babylon, went on to perform it in London and at numerous major film festivals, and recorded it for the BBC. He is featured on recordings from Polygram/ABC Records and Clermont Records. As an educator, Hadari is committed to working with young conductors and with youth orchestras.
