C'est l'édition deluxe de la musique (sortie en 2007) de l'adaptation de Tim Burton de la comédie musicale macabre Sweeney Todd, avec le célèbre Johnny Depp dans le rôle du personnage épouvantable dont est tiré le nom du film. Même s'il a joué dans quelques groupes de rock (entre autres P avec le chanteur des Butthole Surfers Gibby Haynes), Johnny Depp avait très peu d'expérience en tant que chanteur avant ce rôle, mais il interprète les chansons de Stephen Sondheim avec émotion et talent, comme le prouve la spectaculaire chanson "Epiphany", la déclaration de vengeance de Sweeney Todd. L'interprétation délicate et résolument différente du style Broadway de Johnny Depp dans le rôle de Sweeney Todd ancre le film, lui permettant d'éviter les clichés opéra des comédies musicales et donnant à ces titres impressionnants un charme bien au-delà de la prestation théâtrale.
