Sean Paul ne perd pas de temps. Après un excellent album en 2021, Live n Livin, sur lequel il s’était entouré des meilleurs talents jamaïcains, de Buju Banton et Damian Marley à la next gen incarnée par Leftside, Skillibeng ou Masicka, la star du dancehall lâche un an plus tard un huitième essai studio plus pop. Un virage assumé de la part de “Dutty Paul”, qui regrettait dans la presse qu’après dix ans à cartonner sur les ondes américaines avec du pur dancehall, il soit obligé de le diluer dans le courant dance qui a saisi la pop US. Il le fait toutefois sans se renier, en collaboration avec le duo de producteurs canadiens The Banx & Ranx sur Dynamite avec Sia, How We Do It avec Pia Mia et Calling On Me. Sur l’autre gros casting du disque, No Fear avec Damian Marley et Nicky Jam, il épouse la cause afrobeats, inévitable ces temps-ci des deux côtés de l’Atlantique. Mais le reggae et le dancehall ne sont pas oubliés, avec Gwen Stefani qui vient se fondre parfaitement sur le roots Light My Fire en compagnie de l’incontournable Shenseea. Et avec le morceau-titre Scorcha, Sean Paul livre l’une des meilleures versions du Style A Style Riddim, l’instrumental le plus populaire dans les soundsystems ces derniers mois, produit par les Yardies de Chimney Records.
