Le 16 juin 2018, soit un an après son décès, le management de XXXTENTACION annonçait déjà la sortie d’un documentaire en hommage au rappeur. Crise sanitaire et retards divers obligent, celui-ci n’est sorti que le 26 mai 2022, un délai anormalement long au vu des capacités des équipes du rappeur à exploiter pleinement le matériel enregistré de son vivant. De ce documentaire, intitulé Look at Me: XXXTentacion, voici donc la bande originale. Les différents titres oscillent entre les enregistrements abîmés, captés à la va-vite mais dotés d’une belle nostalgie sonore, comme sur Vice City, surprenant morceau d’ouverture presque offbeat. Mais rapidement, l’aspect ténébreux et distordu de la musique de XXX reprend le dessus, comme lorsque son grand pote Ski Mask The Slump God vient rapper sur FUXK. Il y a peu d’inédits sur cette BO. Mais elle permet de prendre pleinement conscience de la variété du rappeur décédé à seulement 20 ans et de l’étendue de sa discographie posthume. © Brice Miclet/Qobuz
