Plus d’une décennie après Mangercratie, Tiken Jah Fakoly n’a pas perdu de son intégrité et son message reste toujours aussi revendicatif. Produit entre Bamako, Paris et Londres, ce sixième album est le fruit d’un long et minutieux travail, partant d’une soixantaine de productions pour arriver à douze chansons en français et en dioula. L’Africain prône l’unité africaine et, dès la première chanson, rassemble Noirs américains, brésiliens, afro-européens, enfants – même éloignés – de la terre mère. Le reggaeman, entouré des producteurs Kevin Bacon et Jonathan Quarmby, de Magyd Cherfi et Mike d’Inca (membre de Sinsemilia) pour l’écriture de certains textes, invite au micro Beta Simon, ainsi qu’Akon et Soprano. Tiken Jah rappelle les « Promesses bla bla » des dirigeants d’Afrique, s’attaque aux hommes politiques européens, notamment à Nicolas Sarkozy (alors ministre de l’Intérieur du gouvernement Villepin) et à sa politique d’immigration dans « Où aller où ? » et « Ouvrez les frontières », en duoavec le rappeur Soprano. Lui qui se vit comme « Un Africain à Paris » (chanson adaptée du célèbre « Englishman in New York » de Sting), se sent désormais concerné par les problèmes liés à l’exil. Mais tout aussi lucide sur des coutumes africaines cruelles, Tiken Jah Fakoly dénonce l’excision (« Non à l’excision ») et les mariages forcés (« Ayebada »). Ce coup de gueule de Tiken Jah Fakoly est en réalité un cri d’amour pour sa terre, magnifié dans « Ma Côte d’Ivoire », en duo avec son compatriote Beta Simon, et dans « Viens voir ».
