Foxy Brown comme Lil' Kim, joue à fond de ses atouts féminins. Par contre elle se démarque de sa rivale, l'album Hardcore date de la même année, en ne donnant pas dans les textes pornographiques.
Foxy Brown c'est plutôt la femme de gangster, ou la femme gangster, que la fille facile. Ill Na Na est une des grandes réussites du rap féminin, il n'a d'ailleurs rien à envier à la plupart des albums de rap masculin. Ici pas de vocaux lascifs, de promesses sucrées, Foxy Brown assure comme un mâle de Brooklyn.
Flow tranché, rythmiques lourdes, Foxy Brown colle le pauvre auditeur au mur. Il Na Na ne connaît ni les temps faibles, ni les demi-mesures, pour tout dire le temps n'a pas de prise sur un album qui approche de la perfection.
