Here I Am is practically a concept album for all its songs about men. A few express love and devotion, such as "My Kind of Man," "Be Proud of Your Man," and the Top Three title track written by Shel Silverstein. But Loretta Lynn has always been a spitfire where gender relations are concerned, and she balances the sugar with characteristically sassy songs like "There's a Built-In Trouble Maker in Every Man" and "A Woman a Day" ("keeps my man away"). Her personality is conveyed through her interpretive ability rather than her songwriting since she shares a composer credit on only one song. A by-the-numbers rendition of "Delta Dawn" is neither a benefit nor a detraction, but the touching "Where Do Babies Go" could have been a single considering all of Lynn's well-received songs about family and reproduction.
