Atlanta rapper K Camp was tied up in stifling contracts and issues with a production deal that all but stalled his career after his initial commercial breakthrough around 2015. In short succession, he got out of his contract and experienced viral exposure when one of his songs took off on social media, bringing about something of a second act in terms of mainstream recognition. That comeback is one of the main themes K Camp returns to on sixth album Float. Lyrics about coming out on top in a long journey through industry hardships show up on multiple tracks, and Float's finely tuned production and masterful vocal delivery verifies that the success is well deserved. Amid smooth, trap-infused R&B/rap hybrid tracks like "Tables Turn" and "Flaws Included," Float finds K Camp teaming with PnB Rock for the melodic album standout "Life Has Changed" and getting into more intense territory with the heavy bass and controlled flows on "Guts," with special guest True Story Gee. K Camp navigates a spectrum of styles on Float, hitting the mark on commercially appealing R&B pop with the Trey Songz-featuring "Privacy" and flexing a more aggressive skill set on tracks like "Check My Stats."
