Publiée chez la prestigieuse maison Chess en 2019 alors que le regretté guitariste irlandais Rory Gallagher aurait du entamer sa cinquantaine, la compilation Blues propose une généreuse collection de 36 raretés réparties sur un triple CD, tirées de ses archives studio et radio et constituées de relectures de nombreux standards blues, acoustique comme électrique. L'album, qui offre notamment l'occasion d'entendre le maestro croiser le fer avec des légendes du calibre de Muddy Waters, Albert King, Jack Bruce ou Lonnie Donegan, offre un rappel de la passion contagieuse du musicien pour son genre de prédilection ainsi que de la fulgurance d'un jeu qui continue d'influencer plus d'un guitariste en herbe près d'un quart de siècle après sa disparition.
