Fivio Foreign le rappelle d’entrée : « I'm a self-maded, Grammy-nominated. » Pour devenir non plus un nommé mais un vainqueur, le prodige de Brooklyn met les bouchées doubles. Après plusieurs EP qui l’ont placé comme l’un des poids lourds du nouveau rap américain, il sort son premier album, B.I.B.L.E., une définition de ce que la nouvelle pop héritée de la drill est un train d’enfanter depuis trois ans. En invitant Kanye West, Alicia Keys et le producteur Mike Dean sur le single mastodonte City of Gods, il s’inscrit dans une esthétique sonore taillée pour le succès massif. Idem lorsqu’il sample le tube Say My Name des Destiny’s Chid pour en faire son What’s My Name, ou lorsqu’il se frotte aux sonorités R&B sur Love Songs en featuring avec Ne-Yo. Fivio Foreign a décidé de passer dans une autre dimension, de délaisser la dureté pour toucher un public plus large. Il y a bien quelques relents de noirceur disséminés ici où là. Mais B.I.B.L.E., comme son nom l’indique, a quelque chose de profondément messianique. Sur le titre B.I.B.L.E. Talk, il laisse DJ Khaled se lancer dans un sermon surréaliste, convaincu que les rappeurs sont envoyés par Dieu pour divertir, inspirer le public, et pour faire de l’argent.
