Yoke Lore

With a rousing style of indie pop that plays to the back rows of the festival crowd, Yoke Lore is the solo project of Adrian Galvin, formerly of Walk the Moon and his previous solo project Yellerkin. He launched Yoke Lore with a series of EPs including 2016's anthemic Far Shore and 2017's more melancholy Goodpain, which included the gold-certified single "Beige." Sticking with short-form releases over the next several years, he followed 2018's Absolutes EP with a slew of singles, including 2020's "Sensitive Heart" (with Jax Anderson), 2022's "Pastel Auras" (with Elohim), and 2023's bittersweet "Winona." Raised in Katonah, New York by a director and an actor/sculptor, Galvin was encouraged to explore the visual and performing arts in his youth, eventually focusing on both playing drums and dance. He was a contributing songwriter to Walk the Moon while in college, and went solo with Yellerkin in 2013. Featuring bright, harmonic anthems and thudding drums, his first EP as Yoke Lore, Far Shore, was released in May of 2016 by B3SCI Records. Its songs were quickly licensed for series on MTV and Netflix. By then based in Brooklyn, where he also co-founded the dance troupe Boomerang, his song "Hold Me Down" garnered seven-figure streams before the end of the year. In the first half of 2017, he made his SXSW festival debut and toured the U.S. in support of Overcoats. His second Yoke Lore EP, Goodpain, was released in June 2017, and single "Beige" eventually garnered hundreds of millions of streams and earned RIAA gold certification. The Absolutes EP followed in July 2018, with "gutted" and "bared" versions of some of the same songs appearing alongside new ones on Meditations in mid-2019. A succession of singles from followed from Yoke Lore over the next few years, including August 2019's "Everybody Wants to Be Loved" (with NVDES), 2020's "Sensitive Heart" (with Jax Anderson), and 2021's "You Don't Look at Me the Same" (with Great Good Fine Ok). A collaboration with Elohim, "Pastel Auras," was among the project's 2022 releases, and the first half of 2023 saw a tour with Goth Babe, the song "More of Your Love" (with JR JR), and the post-breakup power ballad "Winona." Galvin followed that with festival dates and a North American headlining tour.
