Tezzel
Tezzel is a Colombian producer and musician known for his energetic blend of pop, urbano, Latin, and '90s-influenced electronic music as well as his entrepreneurial spirit. He rose quickly in the Latin pop world, collaborating with major artists like Myke Towers, Anitta, and J Balvin, earning a 2018 Latin Grammy nomination for his work with the latter. Featuring vocals by fellow Colombian Feid, he made his own debut in 2020 with the track "Quatro" while also producing Piso21 and Cali y El Dandee's hit "Voy Por Ti."
Born Mateo Cano Calderón, Tezzel grew up as the son of a professional soccer player, living in several different Colombian cities. Although a talented athlete, he was drawn more heavily toward music, inspired by his mother, who worked at a record store and encouraged his burgeoning creative talent. Using the name Tezzel, he began DJing and producing music for the Colombian independent label Infinity, where he was mentored by older producers like Mosty and Sky Rompiendo. Becoming more involved with different aspects of the music industry, he founded the TEZZLA company in 2016, which provided production, managerial, and even legal services to emerging artists like Vibarco and Piso21 member Lorduy.
In 2018, Tezzel earned a Latin Grammy nomination for his production work on J Balvin and Nicky Jam's hit "X," and he joined Universal Music Latin Entertainment the following year in an executive producer and artist development role. He produced "Atención," the lead track from Anitta's 2019 album Kisses, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy. That same year, he also produced "Una Vida Para Recordar" for Myke Towers and Piso21 and "No Te Hagas la Loca" for Noriel and Manuel Turizo. In 2020, Tezzel made his first release under his own name with "Quatro," featuring Feid on vocals. Meanwhile, he continued to produce for other artists including Cali y El Dandee and Piso21's "Voy Por Ti."
