No Vacation

With a style that bridges lo-fi guitar songs and wistful sophisti-pop, the dreamy indie pop of No Vacation emerged in a sparer form in 2015. With a rejiggered lineup, they made their lusher label debut with the EP Intermission in 2017. No Vacation first drew attention for the intimate sounds and relatable, everyday themes of Amo XO in 2015. With songwriting by the returning duo of Sabrina Mai and Basil Saleh, the San Francisco-based group followed up with the giddier indie pop of Summer Break Mixtape before going on hiatus. After a few membership changes and shows under other names, and splitting their base between San Francisco and Brooklyn, the lineup of Mai (vocals/guitar), Nat Lee (synths/vocals), Harrison Spencer (guitar), and Marisa Saunders (bass) reclaimed the moniker in 2017. The EP Intermission arrived later that year on Topshelf Records and featured a similarly yearning, if more fully formed sound. With Laila Wayans on drums, they released an Audiotree Live session in 2018, and Topshelf delivered their second EP, Phasing, in 2019. It was credited to the trio of Mai, Lee, and Spencer.
