Massimo Pericolo

Based in Brebbia, Northern Italy, Alessandro Vanetti (November 30, 1992) is a rapper who took the name Massimo Pericolo during a two-year prison sentence for drug charges in 2014. His debut album Scialla Semper (2019) took its name from the police operation that led to his arrest. Producing trap-influenced beats with a nihilistic and violent lyrical content that he terms 'emodrill,' he released a series of videos linking his music with gang lifestyle evoked through imagery of guns, drugs, and balaclavas. An anti-institution message is also prominent as he burns his electoral card at the beginning of the video for “7 Miliardi.” Before prison, he began rapping under the name Skinny Bitch, contributing two tracks to the album Cime di R-ep (2011) by SpumaCru. Following his arrest and change of name, he began working on new material, releasing a video for the song “Baklava” in 2017. He was featured on Ugo Borghetti's 2018 track “Ansia,” produced by Phra Crookers and Nic Sarno. Working with the same production team, “7 Miliardi” (2019) brought him to much wider attention on the Italian rap scene, quickly gaining more than 2 million views on his video streaming channel. His debut album Scialla Semper was released in early 2019, reaching Number 4 on the Italian charts. Preceded by the singles “Beretta” and “Bugie,” his second full-length Solo Tutto saw the light in 2021 and achieved pole position in Italy. Follow-up single “Cazzo Culo,” also included in the album, peaked at Number 15 in the Singles Chart.
