Ladipoe
Born in Lagos, Nigeria on April 29 (year unknown), Ladipo Eso performs under the stage name Ladipoe and is often referred to by his fans as Poe. He is considered a true pioneer in Nigerian Afro-rap fusion music with his flow and skills as a rapper. Born and raised in Lagos, he briefly moved to the U.S. and attended the University of North Carolina to earn a degree in Biology and Chemistry. While attending school, he became interested in creating music. He first rose to fame as a featured performer on the hit single “Feel Alright” by Nigerian rap duo ShowDemCamp (SDC). The song was nominated for Best Alternative Song of the Year at The Headies, Nigeria’s music awards show. Ladipoe signed a solo deal in 2017 with Nigerian label Mavin Records, and became the first rapper on the label’s roster. “Man Already” was his first single for the label, followed by “Jaiye”, both of which proved to be successful. In 2019, he released his debut album Talk About Poe. Critics raved about his ability to mix rap, dancehall, new high-life, and hip-hop. In April of 2020, he released the single “Know You” (featuring Simi).
