Joe Bocan
Joe Bocan is a French-Canadian pop singer and actress. Born Johanne Beauchamp on September 8, 1957, in Quebec, Canada, she started her performing career in theater before transitioning to folk singing and winning an award at the Festival International de la Chanson de Granby in 1983. She performed in the multimedia show Paradoxale in 1985 in Montreal, which won the Félix Award for Best Pop Show in 1986. Her debut album, Joe Bocan, was released in 1988, including singles such as "Paradoxale" and "Repartir à zéro." In 1989, she received 10 nominations for the Félix award, winning Best Pop-Rock Show. The following year, she won the Best Female Singer award. In 1991, she released her second album, Les Désordres, which included one of her signature songs, "Apocalypso." Her music career existed parallel to her acting career around this time, as she continued appearing in movies and TV shows. Joe Bocan released more albums throughout the 1990s, and in 2001, she issued La Comtesse d'Harmonia fait le tour du monde, a children's album. She took a hiatus from music until 2011 when she released La Comtesse d'Harmonia - Pour faire danser la terre, followed by La Loupe in 2013. In 2022, she earned the Félix Award for Variety or Reinterpretation Concert of the Year for her joint tour with Marie Carmen and Marie Denise Pelletier.
