FRANKIIE

Along with an introspective lyrical approach, FRANKIIE 's noir-tinged, reverb-washed sound is indebted to surf rock, psychedelia, and '60s girl groups. Emerging from Vancouver in the mid-2010s, the group delivered their full-length debut, Forget Your Head, in 2019. They remained loyal to vintage music inspirations while grappling with the instability of current times on 2023's Between Dreams. Founded by singer/guitarist Francesca Carbonneau in 2013, FRANKIIE's original lineup also included keyboardist/vocalist Nashlyn Lloyd, bass player Samantha Lankester, and drummer Zoe Fuhr. After building a following with local shows and appearances at festivals in Canada, they self-released their first EP, Girl of Infinity, in 2015. Following tour dates in support of the EP, the band took a break to pursue other professions and music projects. FRANKIIE eventually reassembled and entered the studio with producer Jason Corbett (Actors) to work on an album. They toured the U.S. and Canada as openers for the Charlatans UK in 2018 before their debut album, Forget Your Head, arrived on Paper Bag Records in September 2019. Its '60s surf and psychedelic rock influences were again a defining factor on the follow-up, 2023's Between Dreams. With Corbett returning as producer, Trevör Stöddart replacing Fuhr on drums, and Victoria Sieczka in for Lankester on bass, it arrived on Paper Bag in June of that year.
